Gary Goetz was born in Dayton, OH. He began playing the piano at the age of 4. His mother was a nightclub piano player. “I knew how to play the piano before I knew how to read.” After music studies at the University of Cinncinnati, Gary launched into a world-wide performing career that now spans some 40 years, including 15 years on various cruise lines and posh hotel venues such as the Ritz-Carleton.
Gary has opened for Tito Puente, Buddy Rich, Count Basie and Kenny Rankin. During a a 3-year residency at Gilly’s nightclub in Dayton, he worked as a sideman with many of the acts appearing there, including singer Diane Schuur, organist “Brother”Jack McDuff and guitarist Larry Coryell.
In 1991 Gary moved to Florda and began working in Daytona Beach, Sarasota, Clearwater and Orlando. Gary and his wife Glenda, also a performer, currently make their home in the Fort Myers area, where Gary appears weekly at The Veranda restaurant and at the Sunday night jam session at The Roadhouse Cafe.
Gary says, “It has always been my life’s ambition to play and perform in front of an audience, When I was fifteen years of age, I was asked to play the piano at my high school talent show. From that moment on I dedicated my life to playing piano and making people happy. It has brought much joy ot others and to myself.”

Gary not only plays the piano like you’ve never heard it played, but he also sings. Next time your there ask him to play and sing ” Maybe You’ll Be There ” or ” One Less Bell to Answer ” then just sit back and enjoy the magic. This man is a musical virtuoso.

My friends and I are frequent “piano bar” visitors at the Roadhouse Cafe, as many Sundays as we can fit in and other nights also. Gary is wonderful, his tinkling those ivorys is a great enjoyment for us. As far as we are concerned there is no place that comes close to the intimate asmosphere that we find and the outstanding music we enjoy at the Roadhouse. Good job to all of you. Pat, Jack and Sue
